Nuclear Counting Statistics

This paper was developed to fill a need, that of defining the correct statistical treatment for detecting weak radioactive sources in the environment. It was presented by request to William Hagan when he led the Transformational and Applied Research Directorate of the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (later Director of DNDO). It was also delivered to several program managers within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to correct problems with handling such statistics. Copies have been widely requested over the years, therefore it is being posted as a pdf file here for easy download.
