Rebecca Waddell’s short story Fries with That appears in the anthology UP, DO: FLASH FICTION BY WOMEN WRITERS. Ever had an encounter where afterward you found yourself saying, “I wished I’d said…”? Who hasn’t, right? Well Rebecca’s unnamed pov character is just fed up enough to finally speak out, like we all wish we did. This very short story highlights the problem with standing in judgement over another human being whose story you don’t know. In a world obsessed with passing judgement on others in every conceivable type of media outlet, this story is very timely.
I haven’t gotten to the other stories in this anthology yet, but I look forward to the experience. And if you buy the Kindle version like I did, it will cost you less than the value meal you paid for with your last batch of fries.
This was a really good review. No, seriously, I mean it. It was well written and covered everything I needed to know, which is impressive for such a short review. Just wanted to let you know.
